The crude oil forms the Emsland and the region. Here you'll find Germany's most important repositories. In Twist crude oil but also and natural gas has been extracted for centuries.

The Erdölmuseum at the Heimathaus Twist informs about crude oil and natural gas extraction in our region. The exhibition segments reach from the origin of natural gas and crude oil over the search for deposits, the extracting of raw material, to underground storage. The relevance of crude oil for the Emsland and the shire of Bentheim is shown at this museum.

As of late the museum offers in addition extra information events. The newly founded Förderverein Erdölmuseum Twist invites you to film and seminar events but also to excursions to the oil fields in the region. Active and formerly active members will talk at location of their work in the crude oil industry. Further information about these events is also available at the below mentioned address.
